Cannot Export to Excel with Huge Data

Hi All!

I have an Issue.

I am calling a rdl file through the Url and i am passing the Format=Excel in the Url.

Eg. http://harinarayana/ReportServer/......&Format=Excel&...........

If the data is around more than some 20000 records, its not able to export and

a Error like "The Service is not available " is being displayed.

Does anyone have any solution for scenarios like this? It would be of great help to me.

Cannot export to excel from report manager

I'm reposting this since no one has answered and I'm finding other forums
where people are asking the same question and no answers to be found,
including when I asked the question. It seems like if I'm not the only
person seeing this error, someone, somewhere should have it documented.
I have a windows server 2003 box running in production with SQL Reporting
services, not sure of the version.
When attempting to export to Excel from report manager we get the error:
"Internet Explorer cannot download Format=Excel from reports.server
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested
site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."
We only get this error on some machines. Other machines work just fine.
They are all running against the production server. We do not get the error
when it's run against the dev server.I've run into problems with Excel export with two different scenarios:
- some of the controls in the report did not have the same language setting
as the report
- I'd used special Norwegian characters (like æøå)
I don't think the second scenario applies to you. :) But you might want to
make sure all the controls are in the same language. Just a stab in the
dark: Do you use User!Language for any reports or controls? In that case the
reports might work out on computers with the same language setting as the
server, but not if you run a different language.
Do the computers with errors have the same security settings in the browser
as the ones without error?

>|||Between the two computers we've been working with, they are identical except
for one is running Windows 2K SP4 and the other is Win XP SP 2. All the
other settings are the same. The other thing we've found is that on a
different XP machine using the same image as the one we have the problem on,
if the user is given local admin rights the problem doesn't occur. However,
granting local admin rights to the user experiencing the issue did not
resolve the issue on her machine.

Cannot export to Excel from Report Manager

When attempting to export to Excel from report manager we get the error

This only happens when the person accessing reports manager is not a local
administrator. Local administrator privileges make the problem go away.
What is report manager trying to access that I need to give my user access
to? I cannot make the user a local admin.The problem does not just occur if exporting to excel. It's all file types.
Any file type we try to export to from report manager kicks back essentially
the same error we were getting when trying to export to excel. Oddly enough,
the development server which uses 2k3 server doesn't do this. The production
server that is running Server 2K does.

Cannot Export files using Excel in my application(in which i am using crystal re

I am using crystal report for reporting in my application but in some computers the application does not show the export option in Excel, i export mostly in excel for reporting but this problem occurs in some computers rest of the computers are exporting normaly i have already installed MDAC 2.8 but could not solve that problem is there any solution then please let me know thanks.Each Export format (Excel, pdf, etc) and each Export Destination (Aplication, Disk, etc) has to have a dll installed on the machine it's running on. If, for example, you can export to pdf, but not to Excel, your problem may be that the dll required for Excel Export is missing.

In Crystal Reports 8.5, there's a file called runtime.hlp that tells exactly what dlls are required depending on what your application uses.

(Ex. For CR 8.5 and Win2k, my Excel export dll is: C:\WINNT\Crystal\u2fxls.dll and my dll for Exporting to Application is: C:\WINNT\Crystal\u2dapp.dll)sql

Cannot create an instance of OLE DB Provider "MSDAC"

Hey Guys,
I'm trying to query a couple of Excel 2007 spreadsheets for some reports
using OpenDataSource in my query to pull in the data.
Everything is find with the preview inside the IDE, but when I deploy my
report I recieve the following error:
An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted)
Query execution failed for data set 'Regression'.
(rsErrorExecutingCommand)
Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "MSDASC" for linked
server "(null)".
I've installed 2007 Data Connectivity Components on the report server and
this allowed me to query the data while developing. I'm at a loss why this is
not working after I deploy.
The SQL I'm using to query the data is:
SELECT *
FROM OPENDATASOURCE('Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0',
'Data Source="\\server\document.xlsm";Extended Properties="Excel 12.0
Macro;HDR=YES"')...Sheet1$
Any ideas/suggestions?My guess if this works in development and not in deployment that it has to
do with file security. The report is executed under a different user account
and that account doesn't have rights to the folder where the Excel data
resides. Just a guess because I have never done this.

a security problem. Here's what I did to solve my problem in case anyone
comes across this thread in the future...
I was using a shared data source which connected using windows
authentication. No matter how I tweaked and fiddled around I could not get
windows authentication to work.
So I setup a SQL account with limited rights. Then provided me with a new
error message stating:
Ad hoc access to OLE DB provider 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' has been denied.
You must access this provider through a linked server.
While I have Ad hoc access enabled via Surface Configuration, it would not
allow me to perform an ad hoc query if the user account wasn't a sysadmin to
the SQL Server. Ugh!
I played around with tweaking the DisallowAdhocAccess registry setting for
the provider, but I didn't find a way to allow non-sysadmin accounts the
ability to perform ad hoc queries.
In the end using a SQL authentication with a sysadmin account allowed
OpenDataSource to pull in the external data.

Cannot copy column names view result set

In SQL 2005 - when I display the results of a View and Copy all rows and columns, the resulting Paste in Excel does not include the column names.

How can I set SQL 2005 so the names of the columns will come along with the content of the copy function?

Background:

When I am using a SQL Query (instead of a view) I have the ability to control whether or not I am able to Include the Column Headers when copying or saving results. The control exists in the Options > Query Results > Results to Grid > Include column headings etc.

My question is how to get this same ability when attempting to copy the results of a VIEW vs. a Query.

The same way. Instead of opening the view into that grid thingy, open a query window and do a select from the view.|||

Yes Michael - I've thought of that but it causes me to take two steps. One to create the view and a second to get the results of the view by running a query against the view. I'd like to avoid the SQL Two-Step and just have the ability to copy the results from the view like I used to be able to do in SQL 2000. I appreciate your thoughts.

I have a vb 6 app that exports data from sql to excel. The user has the ability to select either local or server. When they select server, the connection string is modified to include the server name instead of the local msde instance to look like this:

I'm using Microsoft Jet Provider 4.0 and OpenDataSource.

This code works fine when user is accessing msde on local, but when using above DSN, I receive the following message:

When I trace the connection, these error messages occur:

I had a problem similar to this when working with VB6, DAO, ADO and SQL Server 2005.

One user could do a query, another user could not.

In fact, the error message was similar to yours. The error message claimed that the table we were trying to query did NOT EXIST.

So, I believe your problem lies with Security.

Try making the user a database owner of the database in question. If this solves your problem, then you can look for a way to set the permission/security correctly for the specifc tables they need access to.
