Cannot connect to server

Hi,

I am using sql server 2005 sp1 developer edtion. I have looked at the install logs and all ok, but when connecting to my server (LAPTOP) i get the following error below. I have not changed any of the xml config file, if anyone can help me i would be very grateful.

Are you using any application or tool to connect your server?

Check whether SQL Server services are started.

I am not using a tool or application to connect to my server just opening sql server and trying to connect. I have uninstalled and installed a again same problem. I have also stopped and started sql serveices.
